Eau Claire County Off Campus School
Requirements and Student Information
Overview: Afternoon and evening classes are offered in both the fall and spring semesters. Afternoon classes meet 14 times, once each week from 2:00 to 4:45. Evening classes meet 14 times, once each week from 5:00 to 7:45. Students successfully completing a course will earn .5 credit. Students are enrolled in courses through their home school.
Classroom Expectations: Individual teachers evaluate student work, assign grades and establish and enforce classroom guidelines. Every student is responsible for undertanding each of their teacher's individual classroom policies.
Attendance: This is very important. Students are required to attend 12 classes in their entirety and do the work required by the instructor at an acceptable level of competency in order to earn a half credit.
Half Credit Courses: Students are allowed to miss only 2 class periods in each course without having to make up any work. Students who miss 3 or 4 class periods in each course are required to make up the work missed. Students who miss more than 4 class periods will be withdrawn from that class.
Quarter Credit Courses: Students are allowed to miss only one class period in quarter credit courses without having to make up any work. Students who miss 2 class periods in a quarter credit course are required to make up the work missed. Students who miss more than 2 class periods will be withdrawn from that class.
Three Saturdays, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, are scheduled at the end of the semester for this purpose. Make-up work may only be made up on these Saturdays. The value of the make-up work is determined by the individual teachers. Students who miss more than 4 class periods from any one course will be withdrawn from that course. Students enrolled in more than 4 courses during any semester need to be very careful about absences because there may not be enough scheduled make-up time tomake up all work missed. Please see your counselor if you have questions.
Please note that because the hourly attendance requirements are less than what would be found at a student's home school, the Off Campus School does not work with excused and unexcused absences. All absences are recorded the same, regardless of what might be excused or unexcused at a student's home school.
Snow days: The Off Campus School is closed whenever Eau Claire Area School District schools are closed because of inclement weather. Listen to local radio and TV stations for any school closings. Transportation: If you are to receive your diploma from Memorial, North or McKinley High Schools, Off Campus may be able to help you pay for transportation. Please talk to your counselor.
